A Clarins Moment

When it comes to skincare I'm frankly a bit of a well, floozy. I partly blame Caroline Hirons for saying, "the best scenario is to have working skincare wardrobe." I do, however, take any form of justification and run with it, I might add.

The thing is, I fall in love with bits and pieces from a range of brands so the 'wardrobe' if you will, expands kinda easily, to my bank accounts dismay. I also think it is a way of compiling the perfect skincare regime for your skin, instead of sticking to one brand for everything.

In saying that, I definitely have crush worthy flings with different brands here and there, when more than one product stands out. The brand of the moment? Clarins.

My god, Clarins are just hitting the nail on the head with each product I've tried lately, and I've even fallen back in love with a few archived products from my collection.

I don't know about you, but I've always thought of beauty brands like Clarins to be for older women. No idea why. But I guess when you are starting out with makeup, counters like M.A.C draw your attention easier with their eye catching, bright, bold colour offerings, everything else just seems a little, black and white in comparison.

But now I'm a little older, black and white doesn't seem so bad. It's actually pretty damn good.

So what has the RR seal of approval, I hear you ask?

1. Gentle Exfoliator Brightening Toner - After reading a lot about toners and their purpose, I came to the conclusion that exfoliating in a liquid form is where it's at. Unlike a bead exfoliant, a liquid won't damage the top layer of your skin which in turn spreads bacteria if you had any blemishes. This toner is gentle enough for everyday use (I whip this out after cleansing at night) and doesn't 'sting' the skin like some liquid exfoliants. Read more about toners here at my SKINCARE SUNDAY post

2. Instant Eye Make-Up Remover - On recommendation from ViviannaDoesMakeup, I had high hopes for this product, and boy did it deliver. I don't wear the heaviest of eye makeup, but after putting it up against the longest wearing gel eyeliner I own, in one smooth wipe across the eyes and it was gone. Nice one, Clarins.

3. Delicious Self Tanning Cream - This is the newest edition to my Clarins collection and is the perfect gradual tan option for those of us who shake in their boots at the idea of fake tanning.  Being a relatively pale individual that keeps my body almost all covered up in fear of burning, this summer is going to be the year I peal my Topshop Leigh jeans off and let the gams out to sport a (faux and more importantly, safe) tan.

And a couple of makeup bits to finish off with -

4. Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector Gloss - Damn do these smell gooood. I know, I know, not a reason to buy a lipgloss, but c'mon who doesn't sneak a cheeky taste? Anyhow, the product is just as amazing - applies smoothly, adds the perfect amount of gloss without being tacky and can be layered over your favourite lipsticks to only enhance, not take away from the colour underneath. I think you get the idea...

5. Instant Light Blush - This bad boy has been in my collection for over a year and I awaited the Australian release after spotting Lisa Eldridge use shade 02 Coral Tonic in her Soft Tonal Look. I jumped on the bandwagon when I saw the display in Myer a few months later, picking up two of the three shades.

Of course they were limited edition and of course I fell head over heals for the formula, especially for 02 Coral Tonic, a peachy bronzy shade that is perfect for my pale skin tone. With the contents of the little pot lingering on empty, 02 Vitamin Pink is pretty much brand new, so for now I'm switching out 02 for 01, savering my beloved Coral Tonic for special occasions.

One (or all) of those products sound up your ally? Currently in Myer, Clarins have a fabulous gift with purchase offer on. Ahh the three words any girl loves to hear. When you purchase two products (one being skincare) you receive a GWP worth writing home about.

Six (actually decent sized) products, including Cleansing Milk with Alphine Herbs, Toner Lotion with Camomile, Tonic Bath and Shower Concentrate (all 100ml), Multi-Active Day Moisturiser (30ml), Hand and Nail Treatment Cream (50ml) and a Bronzing Duo 02 Medium, will be yours for the keeping.

So get your toosh down to your local Myer and I might just let you share the Clarins love affair with me. If you're lucky.

Until next time,

ajarose xo
